I was awarded the 1999 Gerald Frewer Memorial Trophy by the Institution of Engineering Designers, and the first medal for the public promotion of engineering by the Royal Academy of Engineering (shown here with my partner Susan). I won the Royal Television Society's Judges' Award for Educational Television for 2003. I also received in March 2003 the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation Medal from the Institution of Incorporated Engineers.  In October 2006 I was presented with The Horace Hockley Award by the ISTC (Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators). The award is presented to someone who, in the opinion of the ISTC Council, has made a considerable contribution to the Technical Publications industry over a period of time. The award is in recognition for promoting the industry across other industries and boundaries, and for promoting quality in the industry, whether it be in training or within the workplace.
